Solar powered grill: A perfect addition to your backyard BBQ

Saturday, June 2, 2018, 6:20 PM - We're well into grilling season, but though there are plenty of Canadians who enjoy a backyard barbecue, not everyone enjoys having to deal with the propane, excessive smoke, or occasionally feisty flames.

Thankfully, if you're looking for a better way, you can always look into the GoSun grill, which cooks up your favourite summer meals using only the power of the sun.

As Weather Network reporter Nathan Coleman explains in the video above, this gadget came about when Patrick Sherwin, now CEO of GoSun, was disassembling a solar heating device when he had the thought to use the heater's vacuum tubes to heat up his lunch. The tube not only absorbed heat from outside the system, it also insulated the tube's contents, and the result was a hearty meal and a recipe for a solar-powered grill that even works in cold weather.

You can get really inventive with the way you grill, or at least how you prepare to grill.
