Thursday, March 5, 2015, 2:54 PM - Charlottetown, P.E.I. and Saint John, N.B. could break all-time snowfall records this year -- if seasonal or above-seasonal weather prevails through April.

As of Thursday afternoon, Charlottetown had seen 407.4 cm of snow so far this winter. The current snowfall record for the city sits at 451 cm, set during the winter of 2013-2014.

"Charlottetown's average snowfall in March is 44 cm, and the average snowfall in April is 24 cm," says Weather Network meteorologist Dayna Vettese.

"If the city sees average snowfall over the next few weeks, a new record could be set."

Saint John has seen 395 cm of snow so far. The city will need to do a little better than its average March snowfall total of 17.5 cm and average April snowfall total 7.9 cm to replace the current record of 427.2 cm, set during the winter of 1962-63.

While a warmer, drier weather pattern is moving into Atlantic Canada by mid-to-late next week, The Weather Network's 2015 Spring Outlook is calling for a stormy pattern that will likely continue into April with the potential for late-season winter-like storms.
