Nipping over to Moncton or Halifax today? Mind out for some snow that's set to fall on the main routes linking New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Snow, rain expected in the Maritimes Sunday

Daniel Martins

Sunday, December 14, 2014, 10:35 AM - If you're planning on driving from Nova Scotia to New Brunswick Sunday, keep an eye on the roads.

A low pressure system near Sable Island is tracking north toward Nova Scotia, and it's expected to bring up to 15 cm of snow to southeastern New Brunswick, and areas north of Halifax.

Heavier amounts forecast for the higher elevations.

There are no snowfall warnings in effect, but Environment Canada did issue a special weather statement for the affected areas.

The system will manifest as rain for part of the day in the same area, adding to messy conditions for unwary drivers.

It all clears out into Monday morning, as high pressure moves into the region.
