Thursday, August 25, 2016, 4:11 PM - Dunvegan Gardens in northern Alberta has created a special tribute to honour Fort McMurray first responders.

The wildfire-ravaged city was evacuated in May and as soon as Brad Friesen and his team at Dunvegan Gardens were granted access to their homes, they started working on a giant corn maze.

The maze features a police officer, firefighter and ordinary residents who helped emergency crews at the time of the disaster.

"Once we started working on it, we knew it would be the perfect tribute," Friesen told CBC.

The grand opening was held on August 19 and the maze will remain open until mid-October.

"It's amazing that this farm alone is standing," Bill Leonard, Dunvegan Gardens employee who is helping to maintain the maze told CBC. "When I left (Fort McMurray back in May) the hills were burning around us."
