PHOTOS: Storm covering 6 provinces brings heavy dose of winter to Eastern Canada

Massive storm currently impacting six provinces through Saturday

It's not often you get multiple systems covering six provinces over the course of three days, but that's exactly what's happening in Eastern Canada.

A massive system with far-reaching impact, that spanned across 2,500 kilometres at one time, is bringing widespread heavy snow across eastern Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada through Saturday. The latter is also experiencing a prolonged period of freezing rain, which could potentially lead to significant ice buildup and power outages.

Highest snowfall amounts range between 30-50 cm, with the threat for 50 cm for northern and western Newfoundland. As many as 16,000,000 Canadians will be impacted by the three lows. Treacherous travel is expected in each region and power outages are possible, particularly with the freezing rain in Atlantic Canada.

Here are some photos and videos from the storms making the rounds on social media.
