Description
The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a Flood Warning for the following river in Mississippi Pascagoula At Merrill affecting Greene, Jackson and George Counties. For the Pascagoula Riverincluding MerrillMinor flooding is forecast. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/mob. Click on the Rivers and Lakes menu for forecasts and observations. The next statement will be issued when updates occur. What: Minor flooding is forecast. Where: Pascagoula at Merrill. When: From Friday morning to late Friday night. Impacts: At 22.0 feet, Flood Stage. Water approaches homes in west Merrill. Additional Details: - At 9:15 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 21.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is N/A. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 22.0 feet tomorrow morning. Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of southern Mississippi, including the following counties, Harrison and Jackson.
When: Until 300 PM CDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.
Additional Details: - At 1154 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Gulfport, Biloxi, Escatawpa, Latimer, Vancleave, Hickory Hills, Wade, Hurley, Big Point, Saucier and Lyman. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
