Beach Conditions

Bald Point State Park is located on Alligator Point and bordered by Alligator Harbor Ochlockonee Bay Apalachee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The area is near the Franklin/Wakulla county line in the Big Bend region and is often referred to as Tallahassee's closest beach. Popular for its birding and wildlife viewing opportunities the park consists of 4 065 upland acres with diversified habitats of coastal marshes pine flatwoods and oak thickets. The migration patterns of bald eagles and monarch butterflies allure spectators during the fall. Visitors also partake in fishing kayaking/canoeing swimming windsurfing picnicking hiking and bicycling. Many visitors enjoy exploring Chaires Creek as it connects Tucker Lake to Ochlockonee Bay. The beach accesses are located along the shores of Apalachee Bay. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to sunset year-round. Admission/use fee schedule applies. No lifeguards are on duty.
