Monday, January 26, 2015, 2:04 PM - A viral video takes a page out of the book of MacGyver and demonstrates how a gum wrapper and a battery can be used to start a fire.

It's a handy trick for anyone who winds up lost in the wilderness or without power during an intense storm.

But before you go ahead and try this, we should add a disclaimer: We haven't attempted this here at The Weather Network, and we can't confirm how safe this experiment is.

The video's creators recommend taking precautions as well.

"Open flames are fire hazards, and may cause burns. Do not attempt near flammable materials (unless, of course, making a fire is your intended purpose). Use caution and common sense, and wear gloves if able. Use of this video content is at your own risk," the creators say on their YouTube page.

The clip has become a huge viral hit, racking up more than three million views since it was uploaded to YouTube last month.
