"There were definitely severe storms that brought heavy rain and hail, but no tornadoes," says Weather Network meteorologist Dayna Vettese.

Despite tornado watches that were issued for parts of the province before 12 pm, there were no reports of any touchdowns throughout the day.

The storm risk has pushed east for Thursday with tornadic activity possible along the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border.

"There's a risk of non severe storms in Alberta on Thursday, with up to 30 mm of rain possible through the day," Vettese says. "All of the ingredients are there once again for supercells and tornadoes in parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, but much like Wednesday, the development of tornadoes will be conditional on certain weather factors throughout the day."

Vettese says things like enough clearing, daytime heating and humidity would dictate how severe these storms get.
