Friday, November 20, 2015, 12:11 PM - Tropical Storm Rick formed in the eastern Pacific Ocean and continues to move northwestward well off the Mexican coast.
"Except for some clusters of showers or thundershowers well removed from Rick's circulation along the Mexican Pacific coast, it is no threat to land," states weather.com.
While there are no coastal watches or warnings in place, a tropical storm so late in the eastern Pacific season is rare, forecasters say.
NOAA'S Historical Hurricane Tracks shows that there have only be four other tropical systems that have become tropical storms after November 18.
- Kenneth - November 18, 2011
- Sharon - November 25, 1971
- Unnamed - November 27, 1951
- Winnie - December 4, 1983
