Thursday, May 8, 2014, 2:49 PM - A rare 1968 Futuro home has popped up for sale on eBay. It's one of 20 remaining in the U.S. and if you want this piece of history, you better act fast.
The seller is asking $29,900 for the piece of pop culture.
The home is currently located in Berlin, New Jersey and while it's being touted as a place to live, this particular structure used to serve another function.
"[It] was never actually a house at all," reads a description on the UFO's eBay page.

"This Futuro House spent its early years as an amusement ride at Morey's Pier in Wildwood, New Jersey ... it served first as a Planet of the Apes ride, then moved on to Star Trek, Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back at Morey's Piers in Wildwood, NJ."
Still, the UFO-style space -- complete with a hatch door -- was intended to be a living space.
Designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen and assembled by Pennsylvania's Futuro Corporation, the house was meant to act as a portable ski chalet.

Unfortunately, the 1970s oil crisis put the kibosh on manufacturing.
According to the Huffington Post, there are thought to be 60 Futuro homes in existence today.
The 4,000-lb. Futuro home that's currently up for grabs can be shipped with relative ease but it isn't in the greatest condition. Photos posted to eBay depict a badly-rusted interior and an exterior that could use a little TLC.
If that don't deter you, you can visit eBay to place a bid on the Futuro home.
Good luck!
