WATCH BELOW: TRACKING THE SYSTEM EASTWARD

A powerful system that spread heavy, record snowfall across central and southern Ontario on Monday will continue to trek eastward with impact expected across Quebec through Wednesday. Widespread snowfall and winter storm warnings are in effect amid the heavy snow and strong winds.

"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions," warns Environment Canada. "Travel will be difficult due to poor visibility under the snow and in the blowing snow."

SNOWFALL TIMING

The snow will begin tapering off in Montreal by Wednesday morning.

"For Quebec City and along the Gaspe Peninsula, we can expect to see the snow continue through Wednesday afternoon and early evening," The Weather Network meteorologist Kelly Sonnenburg adds.

As the system departs and conditions gradually improve through Thursday, expect the frigid arctic air to remain locked in place.
