New footage captures dramatic rescue of 18-month-old child
Sunday, March 15, 2015, 12:33 PM - Newly released footage by Utah Police shows the dramatic rescue of an 18-month-old child in Utah after a car accident left her dangling upside down for 14 hours.
The video shows officials removing the child from the vehicle and being helped by paramedics as they they take her to hospital
Spanish Fork police Lt. Matt Johnson said Monday that the family told him the child was doing better.
She was discovered last week after a fisherman notified the police that a car had struck a barrier and fallen into the river.
The temperature was around 0 C at the time and even dropped to negative temperatures while the child was trapped in the car.
"She is doing remarkably well considering the circumstance. The doctors have been hopeful so far," the child's aunt Jill Sanderson told KSL-TV. "We would like to express our appreciation to the Spanish Fork rescue team for saving the baby's life."
The child's 25-year-old mother did not survive the accident.
