Thousands of Interior residents went without their morning coffee as a power outage left a wide area of the province in the dark.
BC Hydro spokesman Dag Sharman says a lightning strike at 3:20 Monday morning hit part of the power grid feeding the North Thompson Valley.
Lights were knocked out from north of Kamloops all the way to Valemount, roughly 300 kilometres north.
Sharman says hydro crews needed to rebuild a transmission tower before the line could be re-energized.
