It's official: Winnipeggers are Canada's 'weather weenies' according to Environment Canada's Dave Phillips
Tuesday, November 18, 2014, 2:25 PM - Canadians from coast to coast love the weather, but Winnipeggers are truly "fascinated" with it, according to Environment Canada's senior climatologist Dave Phillips.
He told Sun News that Environment Canada is the most popular government website in the country, and the city that gets the most hits is Winnipeg.
"You guys are truly the weather weenies of Canada," he says.
Phillips is the man behind the Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar, which is about to celebrate its 27th year.

In hounour of Canada's 'weather weenies', he's included 35 weather stories in the 2015 installment-- including the frozen pipes incident that persisted in the province until June of this year, following one of the chilliest winters in a century.
This week is proving to be downright chilly in Manitoba as well, and that will likely send Winnipeggers to their computers, tablets and TVs to analyze the forecast.
According to the Sun, Phillips has a library containing more than 33,000 weather stories.
