Sunday, January 20, 2019, 12:21 PM - The major snowstorm that rolled across North America this weekend only clipped southern Ontario, but that was enough to bring serious snow to the region, hitting eastern Ontario, the Hamilton are and Niagara Peninsula the hardest.
It left behind snowy roads that made travel dangerous, if not impossible, with hundreds of collisions reported by the OPP.
In one case, a car that lost control on the 401 near Milton struck a truck that rolled over into the ditch according to OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt. Neither of the vehicles' drivers were injured, though the highway was reduced to one open eastbound lane during the cleanup.
Elsewhere, police say a man in Oakville died in the early morning hours of Sunday after crashing his vehicle due to an apparent medical episode, though it's not clear if the weather was involved. In Burlington, a man in his 70s collapsed in his driveway while shovelling snow Saturday night and was taken to hospital.
Below is a selection of tweets showing what the storm has inflicted on southern Ontario so far.
