Monday, November 24, 2014, 3:30 PM - Rising water levels inundated parts of Kitchener, Ont. Monday, forcing the closure of several roads.

The conditions come courtesy of heavy rain Sunday into Monday, mixing with a layer of snow already on the ground.

According to local media, the low-level bridge over Conestogo River north of St. Jacobs may be closed following a request by the Grand River Conservation Authority.

Localized flooding may hit other areas as well.

Officials aren't anticipating any major flooding, but residents are being advised to avoid low-lying areas and fast-flowing creeks and rivers.

Vehicles in flood-prone areas should be moved.

STRONG WINDS ACROSS SOUTHERN ONTARIO

Wind warnings are in place across southern Ontario as low from the United States brings intense wind to several regions, with gusts as high as 100 km/h in some areas.

As of Monday afternoon, the conditions had caused as many as 3,000 power outages.

"Sustained wind speeds of 60 to 70 km/h with frequent gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are expected ... north of Lake Erie ," Environment Canada says in a statement.

"These winds will be strong enough to cause some tree damage, with a few power outages possible as a result. The strong and gusty winds will also result in difficult driving conditions, especially on highways exposed to strong cross winds."

The wind is expected to taper early Tuesday morning.

"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds," Environment Canada adds.
