Sunday, December 31, 2017, 12:41 PM - B.C. Hydro's efforts to restore power in the Fraser Valley continue, after an ice storm knocked thousands of residents off the grid.

As of 7:30 a.m. local time Sunday, roughly 9,000 customers were still waiting for the power to come back on. A total of 134,000 customers have been affected since freezing rain moved in on Thursday evening.

The East Fraser Valley was hit the hardest, especially Abbotsford and Mission, where several centimetres of ice accumulated on some surfaces. Numerous roads were still closed on Sunday due to downed trees and power lines.

Looking ahead, high pressure moves in, with temperatures expected to rebound into the mid-single digits over the next several days for the Lower Mainland.
