Father's Day: Rainy Sunday forecast for many. Find out where

Wednesday, June 17, 2015, 5:42 AM - Parts of Canada may see unsettled weather over the Father's Day weekend.

ATLANTIC CANADA

Most of Atlantic Canada will start the weekend with fair weather, though showers are expected for parts of eastern Newfoundland.

For Father’s Day, fair weather is expected across Newfoundland, but showers and thunderstorms will spread across New Brunswick and reach PEI and northern Nova Scotia later in the afternoon.  The rain should hold off until Sunday night along the south coast of Nova Scotia, including Halifax.

ONTARIO/QUEBEC

"After a sunny start to the weekend, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill (which officially made landfall in Texas) will bring an increasing threat for occasional showers and thunderstorms starting Saturday afternoon or evening across southwestern Ontario then spreading northeast across the region for Saturday night and Father’s Day on Sunday," says Weather Network meteorologist Dr. Doug Gillham.

"While Father’s Day will not be a total washout in most places, Saturday looks to be the better of the two weekend days across the region."

WEST COAST

Active weather is expected across the Prairies this weekend, starting in Alberta and spreading through the Prairies.

Temperatures will be at or above seasonal for the B.C. Interior Saturday, but below-seasonal for the Prairies. Temperatures should rebound closer to seasonal levels by Sunday.
