Astronaut Chris Hadfield launches new book full of space pictures

Saturday, October 25, 2014, 10:53 AM - Chris Hadfield changed the way we look at modern day space programs and since coming back to Earth, his passion for promoting the cause hasn't slowed down.

Now Hadfield is ready to launch another book: You are Here: Around the World in 92 minutes. It contains nearly 200 pictures never before seen that Hadfield took during his five-month stint as Commander of the International Space Station.

Hadfield also released the bestselling memoir An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth shortly after returning from space.

The 'social media' king

Hadfield sparked an interest in space exploration in a younger generation due to his activity on social media. His twitter featured plenty of fun insight from the space station—an attitude that has been continued by American astronaut Reid Wiseman.

Among his most memorable moments aboard the International Space Station was a musical collaboration between Hadfield, the Barenaked Ladies and the Wexford Gleeks from Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts.

The Sarnia-native, hockey fan astronaut also dropped the puck for a Leafs game—all the way from space. Shortly after Hadfield performed the ceremonial puck-dropping, the Canadian Space Agency sent out a tweet mentioning the event.

To top it off, Hadfield had one final gift for his fans: a cover of David Bowie's iconic song "Space Oddity"
