Saturday, November 4, 2017, 11:09 AM - Another round of snow is expected for Vancouver Island, with up to 10 cm of accumulation possible in parts.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the entire island ahead of the next system.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Precipitation began Saturday afternoon across Vancouver Island, beginning as rain, then mixing with snow before a full transition to snow, depending on the elevation as temperatures hover near the freezing mark.
• By Saturday night and into Sunday morning, most areas will transition into snow.
• Up to 10 cm possible for higher terrain. In lower terrain, accumulations are expected to be around 5 cm.

"The highest snowfall amounts are expected over higher elevations of southern Vancouver Island where there is the potential for 5 to 10 cm through this evening," says the weather agency. "Elsewhere on Vancouver Island amounts of 2 to 4 cm are likely, while the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast will only have a chance of 2 cm."

Motorists are being advised to slow down and drive according to the conditions.

"Difficult travel conditions are expected during this event, as low elevation snow leads to slick conditions on more major thoroughfares," says The Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter.
