Ready or not, winter-like weather will weigh in on Western Canada
Unfortunately, if you aren't ready quite yet for the transition into extra layers and snow shovels, the long-range forecast is hinting at an extended taste of winter-like weather across parts of Western Canada.
Parts of Western Canada have already experienced brief tastes of winter-like weather from a heavy dumping of snow in parts of Alberta, including record amounts in Calgary, to blowing snow and hazardous travel, which prompted road closures in Saskatchewan.

A trough from Alaska will dive south during the first few days of November next week, ushering in much colder temperatures for parts of Western Canada. Accompanying the blast of cold air will likely be a swath of snow, leading to more widespread accumulations for other western communities.
Feeling like December
Colder temperatures will creep into parts of northern B.C. and Alberta early next week, with sub-freezing daytime highs likely spreading across more populated communities by Wednesday and Thursday. While the calendar will be turning the page into November, some of these high temperatures will resemble more December-like temperatures -- or even colder.
There is some uncertainty how cold temperatures fall, but overnight lows and early morning temperatures across Alberta could dip into the minus teens and feel even colder if there is a wind chill.
Another swath of snow
As the cold air plunges south into the southwestern U.S. it will meet the warm, moist air from the Gulf. This will likely spawn a boundary of moisture that will spread a wintry mix and snow across parts of the U.S. Northwest and across the Canadian Prairies.

There is a lot of uncertainty as to where this boundary will develop, so no specific details can be provided yet. However, accumulating snow in the Coastal and Rocky Mountains, and across an axis of the Prairies is very likely.
Deeper plunge into winter in the long range

While there might be a brief bounce back to more near-seasonal temperatures, as we head further into the month of November, temperatures could tumble even lower heading towards mid-November.
