Recommended Action

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Description

At 1156 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near New Harmony, or 14 miles northwest of Zion National Park, moving northeast at 30 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include Cedar City, Zion National Park, Enoch, New Harmony, Kanarraville, Hamilton Fort, Pintura, and Kolob Canyon. This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 15 between mile markers 29 and 66. Utah Route 56 between mile markers 44 and 61.

Recommended Action

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
