Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Summary

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Scattered thunderstorms will affect the region today. The severe weather threat will diminish this evening.

Fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Heat Warning

Summary

A hot and humid airmass will continue to affect the Golden Horseshoe today.

High temperatures are expected to be in the low thirties with humidex values in the high thirties.

A cold front will move through tonight bringing an end to the heat.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
