Thursday, October 10, 2019, we flew over what looked like the end of the world, Long Point, Norfolk County, Ontario Canada. But talk about another world, it could be here if we ever get a strong windstorm or if Lake Erie's water level starts rising again! There's sections already breached by lake water. Long Point itself is about 40 kilometers long, 1 kilometer at it's widest and a very important stopover location for migratory waterfowl, butterflies and other wildlife. It's also home to many one of a kind insects, reptiles and animals found no where else in the world. Conservation efforts started way back in the 1800s and much of the area is still owned by The Long Point Company. The public is forbidden to enter. In 1986, The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated The Long Point National Wildlife Area as a World Biosphere Reserve.
