This is Typical Australian outback. This picture I took on a Section (large farm) about 1/2 way between Alice Springs and Darwin, in the Aussie summer of 2013. That day the temperature was nearing 40 C. It was hot and dry, and this typical red clay was radiating heat off it's surface. That may sound bad, but this week, as Australia is experiencing a record heatwave, the temperatures here are reaching nearly 50 C. I can't imagine how one can take such punishment.
