Extremely Rare 1958 Mercury Voyager 2 door wagon

64576 views Earl Hartlen August 18, 2021 Port Dover, Ontario Date shot: August 15, 2021

The world loves classic old cars. How rare is this 1958 Mercury Voyager '2-door' station wagon? How about one of only 568 built. Two-door wagons were never as practical or popular as their 4-door counterparts, and the “pillarless hardtop” styling on this one makes it even more of a rarity. Interesting feature was the pushbuttons to the left of the steering wheel, nicknamed the “Keyboard Control” for the Merc-O-Matic transmission, which was standard on Voyagers. The standard engine for Voyagers that year was a 383-cube MEL (6.28 litre) engine rated at 330 horsepower. These wagons were big, 214 inches (543.56 cm) long on a 122-inch (284.48 cm) wheelbase and they weighed over 4,000 lbs (1814 kg), so the large V-8 was welcome.
