Wednesday, April 20, 2016, 5:51 PM - This is one of those videos you have to see to believe.

On Saturday, a giant dust devil appeared in the middle of a college baseball game in Lynchburg, Virgina, causing players to put their game on hold.

The Lynchburg Hornets were in the process of pitching to the Bridgewater Eagles when the dust devil started to churn.

The whole event was caught on camera by Hornets' digital media director Joseph Hutzler.

It lasted about 35 seconds, and nobody was hurt.

What is a dust devil?

They're often compared to tornadoes, but dust devils actually represent a completely different phenomenon.

While both require wind sheer --  winds blowing in different directions at different levels of the atmosphere -- dust devils are typically harmless.

The main difference is tornadoes are usually attached to the bottom of a severe thunderstorm, while dust devils form due to air rising rapidly from the ground.

They rarely come close to the intensity of a tornado.
