Climate in Santiago

The bustling city of Santiago de los Caballeros sits between two mountain ranges, 175 meters (or 580 feet) above sea level. Year round, its climate is consistently warm, with average air temperatures peaking at 32°C in August and an average low of 23°C in December.

Precipitation tends to change dramatically month over month. The city experiences two wet seasons in Spring and Fall, and two dry seasons in Summer and winter. The rainiest months are May and November, and the driest months are January, February and July.

Trade winds and cloud coverage are constant in Santiago, and can help to cool off a hot, sunny day. The city is about an 80 minute drive away from the oceanside city of Puerto Plata.
