Highway 400 northbound lanes near Newmarket reopen after multi-vehicle collision
Update: Highway 400 northbound lanes reopen after multi-vehicle pileup shuts down Highway 88 to Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 89; injuries were reported
Highway 400 northbound lanes have been cleared and reopened following a multi-vehicle collision earlier Thursday afternoon. The closure affected Highway 88 to Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 88 to Highway 89 for several hours.
While lanes are now open to traffic, motorists are being warned to expect major delays on Highway 400 northbound approaching Highway 88 and Highway 89. Alternate routes highways 27 and 4 are also congested.
Although an exact number of vehicles involved hasn't been confirmed, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told The Weather Network there were about six transport trucks in the pileup and there were no serious injuries.

OTHER ACCIDENTS IN ONTARIO
According to Muskoka 411 News, there has also been a single-vehicle rollover at Sky Hill at Line Hill in Huntsville, Ont. No one was injured.

According to iHeartRADIO, a motorist involved in a collision on the QEW driving over the Garden City Skyway Bridge in St. Catharines was struck by another vehicle Thursday afternoon. It was reported the person exited their vehicle and was then hit by another vehicle.
The person was taken to hospital, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
While weather hasn't been officially attributed to the cause of the accidents, there were widespread flurries in the forecast for Thursday afternoon.
