A split in the pattern over Ontario on Friday
The ridge of high pressure that brought Ontario several days of warmth and sunshine will be on the move Friday.

Our high will push farther south over the Great Lakes, splitting southern and eastern Ontario’s weather to end the week.
Folks across southern portions of the province will remain under the influence of the ridge, keeping our conditions here dry and mild with bountiful sunshine.
This will help Toronto nudge toward its sunniest stretch so far in 2026, and possibly the longest stretch of consistent sunshine since the beginning of October.

At the same time, eastern Ontario will fall under the spell of an upper-level low moving in from James Bay.
This feature will bring slightly cooler temperatures and a risk for showers and thunderstorms to the region, including Ottawa, Cornwall, and Bancroft. The unsettled weather will stretch east into southern Quebec, including Montreal.
Forecasters are watching a similar setup for the weekend, with a chance for showering descending from the north on Sunday.
