Wet snow continues clogging Quebec roads into Monday

Prepare for slow travel across Quebec on Monday as much of the province digs out from a solid thump of heavy, wet snow

A formidable thump of wet snow fell across Quebec on Sunday as a slow-moving storm scraped by the region.

More than one hundred thousand homes and businesses lost power at one point early Sunday as heavy snow and breezy conditions damaged trees and power lines.

Expect the snow to continue through Sunday night and into early Monday before slowly tapering off.

Quebec snow outlook

Patchy bouts of wet snow will continue overnight Sunday and into Monday as the storm slowly moves east. Montreal and Quebec City should see the chance of snow wane into Monday afternoon, with only the Gaspé dealing with snow into Monday night and Tuesday.

Looking ahead, early next week will see conditions on the cooler side of seasonal, then trending warmer with well above-seasonal temperatures for a few days ahead of another system late next week or next weekend.

A much colder pattern is expected to develop around the official first day of spring, continuing through the end of March and into early April.
