Dense wildfire smoke set to impact Ontario by Wednesday

Dense wildfire smoke is forecast to reach Ontario midweek as hundreds of active wildfires in northern Ontario continue to produce significant smoke plumes.

Yellow-coloured air quality warnings are in place for southern Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and parts of Quebec.

Evacuation orders remain in place for Armstrong and Whitesand due to advancing wildfires.

A strong jet stream is transporting the smoke southeast, with southern Ontario expected to experience degraded air quality starting Wednesday and lingering into Thursday.

Smoke may become concentrated at the surface, heightening health risks for those with respiratory conditions.
