Atlantic Canada braces for multiple rounds of snow this week
St. John's, N.L, which has failed to record more than 7 cm of daily snowfall this winter so far, is in line for a bit of a rude awakening with this storm
Atlantic Canada is in for a snowy week as a series of low-pressure systems track across the region.
With Ontario and Quebec dealing with its latest round of snowy, windy weather, it's only a matter of time before that dose hits Atlantic Canada.

The same system that is trekking through Central Canada will also hit the Maritimes and Newfoundland with a shot of snow, rain and blustery wind gusts on Wednesday, followed by another round late into the week.
St. John's, N.L, which has failed to record more than 7 cm of daily snowfall this winter so far, is in line for a bit of a rude awakening with this storm. Current projections have the Newfoundland city, usually Canada's snowiest, to see upwards of 15-20 cm of snow.
Tuesday overnight
A system moving through the Maritimes Tuesday brought snow to many areas. However, this is just the first of several rounds of wintry weather.
Snow will continue to fall in western Newfoundland as rain impacts eastern portions of the province. Wind gusts of 50 to 80 km/h are expected across the region.

Wednesday and Thursday
A more significant system is expected to impact the region on Wednesday and Thursday. This low-pressure system will track from Ontario and the northeastern United States, bringing heavier snowfall to Atlantic Canada.
Snow will begin to fall in the Maritimes on Wednesday morning, while Newfoundland can expect snowfall to commence Wednesday night and continue through Thursday afternoon.

This could potentially be St. John's largest snowfall of the season, surpassing the current seasonal high of 6.6 cm recorded on January 27th.
Friday into the weekend
Beyond Thursday, another low-pressure system may impact the region Friday night and into Saturday, though the track of this system remains uncertain.

This week's weather pattern is just the beginning. Forecasters predict an active period for Atlantic Canada in the coming weeks, with more messy winter storms expected.
