Flood Advisory
What: Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: A portion of central South Carolina, including the following counties, Chesterfield, Fairfield, Kershaw and Lancaster.
When: Until 345 PM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 143 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Camden, Lake Wateree Dam, Pageland, Kershaw, Heath Springs, Westville, Mt Pisgah, Cassatt, Liberty Hill, Lake Wateree State Park, Mcbee, Jefferson, Bethune, North Central High School, Kershaw Correctional Institution, Dekalb, Pleasant Hill, Forty Acre Rock Preserve, Midway Elementary School and Taxahaw. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown.
