Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
Where: Central Union NC County in the Piedmont of North Carolina
When: Until 200 AM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 1246 AM EDT, gauge reports indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. As of 1245 AM EDT, the stream gauge along Bearskin Creek at N Charlotte Ave in Monroe was reporting a stage of 8.63 ft. The creek had crested, and water levels were beginning to fall steadily. At this level, minor flooding of nearby low- lying areas, particularly those in nearby Dickerson Park, continues. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Monroe. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
