Recommended Action
A Flood Watch means water levels above flood stage are possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Persons along rivers and streams in the watch area should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued by Friday afternoon.

Description

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Illinoi
S: Fox River at Algonquin Lock & Dam tailwater affecting Kane, McHenry and Lake IL Counties. For the Fox River (Illinois)including Algonquin Lock & Dam tailwaterMinor flooding is forecast.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Fox River from Johnsburg downstream to Red Gate Road in St. Charles, including the Algonquin Lock & Dam tailwater gauge.
When: Until further notice.
Impacts: At 10.0 feet, Winaki Trail and Onaway Trail are threatened south of Algonquin. Athletic fields inundated at Judson College in Elgin.
Additional Details: - At 8:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 9.8 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to slowly rise to just above 10 feet by Friday afternoon and evening before gradually falling into next week. - Flood stage is 9.5 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
