Description

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Red Flag Warning for low relative humidities and gusty winds for most of North and Central Georgia, which is in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT Sunday. Due to the ongoing drought and a lack of appreciable rainfall, critical fire weather conditions are met at relative humidity values of 30% or less. Affected AreaMost of north and central Georgia. S: Northwest at 10 to 18 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Gusts up to 40 mph are possible along the ridgelines and peaks in northeast Georgia. Relative HumidityIn the low-to-mid 20 percent range. Temperature
S: Between 65 and 70 degrees along and north of Interstate 85, and between 70 to 80 degrees for areas further south. Impact
S: With elevated winds and low relative humidity, extremely dangerous fire weather conditions are possible. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

Recommended Action

This warning includes the Chattahoochee and portions of the Oconee National Forests. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring...or will occur within 24 hours. Please refer to the local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside...use extreme caution. Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the field of the Red Flag Warning.
