Winter storm on tap

What: Snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres followed by ice pellets and freezing rain.

When: Late this evening to overnight Friday night.

Where: Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Charlevoix and the Lower St. Lawrence

Additional information:
The precipitation will begin as snow and gradually change to ice pellets and freezing rain. Freezing rain amounts of 5 millimetres are possible. Moderate to strong winds will produce blowing snow locally, especially in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean area.

A second low pressure system will give significant snowfall amounts over these areas Sunday. This system may also bring a mixed bag of precipitation, which could include a period of freezing rain.

Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
