Yellow Warning - Snow Squall
Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibility will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.
Locations: western Newfoundland.
Additional snowfall: locally 5 cm in snow squalls.
Maximum wind gusts: westerly 70 km/h.
Time span: ending this morning.
Remarks: Persistent snow squalls have developed. Snowfall rates of 2 to 3 cm per hour may occur under the most intense snow squalls.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow and blowing snow within just a few kilometres are common.
###
Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times.
Snow squall warnings are issued when localized, intense snowfall causing rapid accumulation and/or visibility near zero is expected.
