Recommended Action
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Description

What: Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall and runoff is expected.
Where: West Central Hidalgo County in deep south Texa
S: Central Starr County in deep south Texa
S:
When: Until 1130 PM CDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways due to heavy rainfall and runoff. Some low-water crossings may become impassable.
Additional Details: - At 830 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Rio Grande City, Roma, Penitas, Sullivan City, La Joya, Escobares, Garciasville, El Sauz, La Rosita, Los Ebanos, La Grulla, Fort Ringgold County Park, Starr County Sheriffs Office, Rio Grande City Municipal Airport, Ringgold Middle School, Rio Grande City Fire Department, Las Lomas, La Puerta, Santa Cruz and Starr County Memorial Hospital. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
