THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 79 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN NEW YORK THIS WATCH INCLUDES 15 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL NEW YORK BROOME CHEMUNG CHENANGO CORTLAND DELAWARE MADISON ONEIDA ONONDAGA OTSEGO SCHUYLER SENECA STEUBEN TIOGA TOMPKINS YATES IN PENNSYLVANIA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA BRADFORD SUSQUEHANNA THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BINGHAMTON, CORNING, CORTLAND, DELHI, ELMIRA, HALLSTEAD, HAMILTON, HORNELL, ITHACA, MONTROSE, NORWICH, ONEIDA, ONEONTA, OWEGO, PENN YAN, ROME, SAYRE, SENECA FALLS, SYRACUSE, TOWANDA, UTICA, WALTON, WATKINS GLEN, AND WAVERLY.

The heavy rain has ended. Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to heed remaining road closures. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT Wednesday for a portion of central New York.
Flood Warning
The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in New York Tioughnioga River At Cortland affecting Cortland County.
What: Minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Tioughnioga River at Cortland.
When: From late tonight to Thursday afternoon.
Impacts: At 8.0 feet, Minor flood stage. Flooding leads to some closures along Kellogg Road to the south of Cortland.
Additional Details: - At 1:00 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 5.2 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight to a crest of 8.5 feet early tomorrow afternoon.
