Recommended Action
Move to higher ground now! This is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

Description

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Missouri Black River near Annapolis. River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecast precipitation for the next 24 hours.
What: Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record.
Where: Black River near Annapolis.
When: Until Sunday evening.
Impacts: At 27.4 feet, This is the RECORD FLOOD LEVEL that was reached on November 14 1993.
Additional Details: - At 10:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 25.5 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:15 AM CDT Friday was 25.5 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 28.5 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. - Flood stage is 8.0 feet. - Flood HistoryThis crest compares to a previous crest of 27.4 feet on 11/14/1993.

Recommended Action

To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground. Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise even higher than predicted. The National Weather Service will monitor this developing situation and issue follow up statements as conditions change.
