Description

What: Flooding caused by multiple rounds of thunderstorms continues.
Where: Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook and Will and northwest Indiana, including the following county, Lake IN.
When: Until noon CDT.
Impacts: Flooding is occurring in poor drainage and urban areas. Roads and streets may be flooded. High water may recede slowly from flooded areas, possibly stalled by clogged drains.
Additional Details: - At 736 AM CDT, flooding was occurring in the warned area. In the past 48 hours, between 4 and 6 inches of rain has fallen. River gauges indicate that creeks and rivers are at or above flood stage, suggesting there are areas of standing water and flooding in the area. - Additional waves of storms may aggravate flooding today. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Calumet City, Chicago Heights, Roseland, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, South Shore, East Chicago, Schererville, Lansing, Oak Forest, Harvey, New Lenox, Homer Glen and Highland. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

A Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers, creeks, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
