Description

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Central Wilkes County in east central Georgia Until 215 AM EDT Tuesday. At 812 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Washington, Tignall, Rayle, Newtown, Mallorysville, Danburg, Celeste, Floral Hill, Delhi, Metasville and Jacksons Crossroads. This includes the following streams and drainage
S: Armstrong Branch, Benson Branch, Williamson Branch, Ware Branch, Long Creek, Greensboro Branch, Fishing Creek, Little Kettle Creek, Linesville Branch, Dry Fork Creek, Little Beaverdam Creek, Morris Creek, Sims Ditch, Little River, Clark Creek, Tanyard Branch, Rock Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Middle Creek, Kettle Creek, Hutton Creek, Newford Creek, Rocky Creek, Threemile Creek, Pistol Creek and Rehoboth Branch.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
