Description

What: Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall and runoff is expected.
Where: Southeastern Starr County in Deep South Texa
S:
When: Until 745 PM CDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways from heavy rainfall and runoff.
Additional Details: - At 540 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.3 inches of rain have fallen in the past hour. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Rio Grande City, Garciasville, La Grulla, La Puerta, Las Lomas, Santa Cruz, La Victoria, Alto Bonito, Ringgold Middle School, Fort Ringgold County Park, Rio Grande City Fire Department, Starr County Sheriffs Office, Grulla Middle School, Rio Grande City Municipal Airport, Starr County Memorial Hospital, Los Alvarez, Los Garzas, La Casita, Rio Grande City Library and Rio Grande City--roma. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
