Description

What: Flooding caused by an ice jam continues.
Where: West Canada Creek near Newport.
When: Until noon EST Thursday.
Impacts: Depending on ice behavior, any release of the ice jam or buildup of additional ice could result in sudden rises of water, leading to a rapid flooding situation.
Additional Details: - At 1033 AM EST, emergency management and local law enforcement reported an ice jam near Bridge Street in the village of Newport, with water out of the banks of West Canada Creek in Newport and upstream of the village. - Emergency management and local law enforcement report that water levels have been slowly receding, but continue to fluctuate with dam releases upstream. Therefore, the threat of flooding due to the ice jam flood will continue until water levels recede further. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Newport. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action
