The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeastern Cattaraugus County in western New York Southern Allegany County in western New York Until 945 PM EDT. At 908 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Wellsville, moving east at 45 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Olean, Wellsville, Whitesville, St. Bonaventure, Weston Mills, Friendship, Scio, Bolivar, Andover, and Portville. This includes Interstate 86 between exits 25 and 26.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for western New York.
