Recommended Action
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and drainages.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning

Description

At 430 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles south of Turley, or 15 miles southeast of Bloomfield, moving northeast at 10 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Mainly rural areas of Western Rio Arriba and East Central San Juan Counties. This includes Highway 64 between Mile Markers 82 and 86.

Recommended Action

Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail.
