Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Northern Fillmore County in southeastern Minnesota Northern Mower County in southeastern Minnesota
When: Until 600 AM CDT.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
Additional Details: - At 208 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in trees were washed down at highway 43 from south Rushford to Bratsberg. Minnesota highway 16 between Wayland and Peterson has flooding reported along the highway. Water is over the roadway at County 57 and Minnesota 56. due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 4 and 7.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Chatfield, Rushford, Grand Meadow, Lanesboro, Brownsdale, Wykoff, Fountain, Lansing, Rushford Village, Washington, Racine, Mayville, Dexter, Pilot Mound, Arendahl, Peterson, Waltham and Whalan. - This includes Interstate 90 in Minnesota between mile markers 193 and 204. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
